Health Careers is gearing up for this year’s Interdisciplinary Disaster Simulation, an engaging and enriching experience for all participants in the Health Careers programs.
What to Expect: The simulation kicks off with the EMS program responding to a simulated disaster on campus. Students will face the challenge of making critical decisions to safely treat and transport numerous “victims” from the scene. As the scenario progresses, these patients will be stabilized and transported to the Health Careers 1 building, where nursing students will triage and treat them in simulated Emergency Rooms and Intensive Care Units. Collaboration among students from all programs will be key as they share responsibility for patient care and outcomes.
When: The simulation is scheduled for November 8, 2024, starting between 9:30 and 10:00 AM (with preparation beginning a few hours earlier) and will run for several hours across campus. Attendees can enjoy excellent viewing opportunities at the “disaster scene” and in the Health Careers “hospitals.” For those feeling adventurous, there will even be a chance to participate as a simulated patient!
