Brandon Hudson “Splash the Hippocampus” Reception
Sep 24 | ACA Gallery | 6 PM
The exhibition consists of artworks by Brandon Hudson in which he paints over slide photos once used for instruction by art professors to re-contextualize their purpose. He sifts through old slide libraries to select and manipulate certain photos that feel like shared memories and uses them to make prints onto canvas. They become the foundation on which paint is freely spread over, blending the colors and forms together. Revisiting these photographs in this way transforms them into a bridge of the past and present: from inspirational teaching images of long-ago scenes to a new and present object, now meant to generate a notion of the sublime within one’s own psyche.
