Drafting and Design Technology

Degree: Associate of Applied Science in Drafting and Design Technology

Certificate: Level 1 Certificate in Drafting and Design Technology

The drafter plays a crucial role as a technician who bridges the gap between the design and production departments in various industries. Their main responsibility is to create detailed working drawings based on sketches, written specifications, or field notes provided by an engineer. These drawings serve as a blueprint for craftsmen and operators, helping them bring a manufacturing project or construction venture to life.

This program offers a comprehensive blend of manual and computer-aided drafting skills, accompanied by relevant technical knowledge. Upon graduation, students will be prepared for entry-level technician positions in the field of drafting. The certificate program is for students who wish to gain a general limited background required for many entry level positions. The drafting and design technology program leads to target jobs in deep east Texas.

Career Outlook

In the deep east Texas region, the entry annual salary range for drafters and designers is more than $37,000* and the median annual salary for drafters and designers in the Deep East Texas region is more than $46,000*.
