CAMP CENTERSTAGE OFFERS TASTE OF THEATRE

Now entering its seventh year, Camp CenterStage, the all-day theatre youth camp (which meets June 15-27) encourages young people to learn theatre skills in a fun and supportive atmosphere, while under the guidance of an experienced theatre faculty. The program aims to inspire creativity, stretch imaginations, expand artistic potential, and enhance self-esteem.

Offered by Angelina Arts Alliance and Angelina College, Camp CenterStage is actually two camps that run during the same two weeks in June on the AC campus. Camp CenterStage is designed for younger students (entering 5th to 7th grades) to learn how the theatre experience is created from page to stage. Exercises and activities led by theatre educators and professionals will open the world of the live stage to eager young minds and imaginations.

CenterStage Academy is designed for students (entering 8th to 10th grades) to engage in a more production-oriented two weeks that culminate in an actual performance on stage. The campers will learn what goes into creating a staged production by stepping into the roles of actors and technicians, as they assemble a show of their own.

Hours for Camp CenterStage are from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. M-F, and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. M-F for CenterStage Academy. Early drop-off and late pick-up are available. Tuition for the Camp CenterStage and CenterStage Academy is $225 for each two-week session. Scholarships are available to any camper who requires financial assistance. All of the camps are generously underwritten by the T.L.L. Temple Foundation.

Space is still available in both camps. To request a brochure and enrollment form or more information about Camp CenterStage or CenterStage Academy, please contact David Raine at 936-633-4504 or draine@angelina.edu. This summer program is presented by Angelina Arts Alliance and Angelina College.
