Graphic Arts Students Presenting Exhibit

Angelina College students enrolled in several graphic arts, editing and layout, web design and photography classes will display their work in the Graphic Arts Student exhibition set to open Tuesday, Nov. 3rd in the Angelina Center for the Arts gallery. The display will run through Nov. 19th, and will feature a reception from 6-7:30 p.m. on Opening Night.

Students in Libby Stapleton’s Editing and Layout class (COMM 2305) will present for display resumes, booklet covers and business cards with original logos. Those presenting work include Ashley Barthold, Milam Bragg, Corinne Bueno, Heather Claassen, Rhonda Connally, Aaron Davis, Alicia Earls, Catherine Evans, Mike Fowler, Joshua Gilley, Brandon Hampton, Jarrett Harrison, Ben Kent, Mayra Leos, Zach Marberry, Eddie Martin, Anthony Moore, Amanda Nichols, Alejandra Padierna, Heather Rendon, Shemeka Thompkins, Thelma Trejo, Maricela Venegas, Carrli Webb, Emily Williams and Jessica Zwar.


The Editing and Layout class is the introductory design class in which the students learn the basics about the history of design, the principles of design, typography, branding, the different kinds of art, editing copy, magazine design, newsletter design, newspaper design and brochure design. The students begin the semester with simple guided projects and end the semester with more difficult, creative projects. Each successive project builds upon the skills learned previously. While they are progressing through the projects, they are also learning how to maneuver in the Adobe InDesign page layout program.

Students in Jan Anderson-Paxson’s ARTC 2413 Digital Publishing II class will be showing their custom-made calendars along with the components from their advertising campaign they designed for either a business, a service or a product. Included in the class are students Tony Aikens, Shelli Carlson, Reed Porterfield, Lee Ann Price, Kellie Ramsey, Jermile Reed, Charles Roberds, Eric Rosales, Lindsey Sell and Zee Stone.

Students in Jan Anderson-Paxson’s COMM 1318 Photography class will be showing a variety of black and white, hand-printed silver gelatin prints. Included in the class are Jessica Adams, Savannah Blangger, Tamara Brooks, Yonathan Cruz, Alejandro Escamilla, Catherine Evans, Joshua Cowan, Brandon Hampton, Alicia Jolly, Steffany Karback, Latasha Lacy, Eddie Martin, Selma Morales, Amanda Nichols, Leah O’Neal, Alejandra Padierna, Andrew Scott, Erick Smith, Kayley Starr, Shemeka Thompkins, Manuel Venegas, and Jessica Zwar.

Graphic Arts instructor Reg Reynolds and his students have been working with noted Chef James Reichstadt in the area of food styling photography, and with Sarah Atkinson Ramirez at the Atkinson Candy Company in the area of package design.
