LIBRARY STUDY ROOM POLICY
Purpose
The study rooms of the A.C. Library are provided to give students, faculty and staff a site for collaborative study and research. The rooms are not to be used to buy, sell, advertise or trade products or services, nor are they to be used for political, religious or personal use that is not directly class-related. The room policies are designed to provide fair access to all A.C. students.
Eligibility
The study rooms are primarily provided for groups of two or more A.C. students. An individual may use a room, but might be asked to vacate if all rooms are full and a group requests the room. Non-students are allowed to use the study rooms, but must vacate immediately if an A.C. group needs the room and no other rooms are available.
General Usage and Limits
Use of the rooms is limited to two-hour time periods and users must check in at the circulation desk. A.C. students requesting a room must bring a valid Angelina College I.D. card to the circulation desk. Non-students must bring a photo I.D. such as a driver’s license. A room will be assigned. Scheduled rooms must be occupied at all times. If a room is left unattended, the library reserves the right to open the room for other groups. The library assumes no responsibility for the loss or damage of any personal property left unattended in a study room. If leaving prior to the scheduled time, groups should notify the staff at the circulation desk so the room can be cleared for another group.
Reservations
Rooms can be reserved by A.C. students, faculty and staff. Rooms may be reserved one week in advance, but cannot be reserved for the same time every week. Reservations must be in person and a valid Angelina College I.D. card must be presented. Groups having a reservation must check in at the circulation desk upon arrival. Reservations will only be held for 15 minutes past reservation time.
Renewals
After the initial two hours of usage a group may return to the circulation desk and request an extension for an additional two hours. This request must be made immediately at the end of the first two hours. If no other group needs to use the room, the prior group may stay, but may be asked to vacate if another group requests the room and no other rooms are available.
Behavior
The second floor is a quiet study floor. While these rooms are provided for group study, they are not sound-proof and there is still a need to maintain a reasonably quiet environment around the rooms. Excessive noise by a group may result in that group being asked to leave. Windows may not be obstructed, doors must be accessible and the lights must remain on at all times. Food and tobacco products are not allowed and drinks must be in a secure, sealable container (no styrofoam cups, open cans, etc.). Repeated misuse of the study rooms may result in usage being denied or disciplinary action taken.
