TEMPLE THEATER FLOOR PLAN

ANGELINA ARTS ALLIANCE 2007-2008 SEASON

Temple Theater will come alive with the sound of music and dance when a country superstar, an energetic modern dance company, a brassy quintet, a song-filled tribute to a pair of legends, thundering drums, and a red-hot Broadway musical take the stage during the Angelina Arts Alliance’s 2007-2008 season. Season sponsors are First Bank and Trust/East Texas and Temple-Inland.
The Premier Season hits the ground running with the memorable melodies of one of country music’s favorite singer/songwriters, Clint Black (September 30 and October 1, 2007). Winner of multiple Grammys, CMA and ACM Awards, Clint Black’s countless fans and CD sales of over 18 million are a testament to his talent and popularity. Come share a Texas-sized good time, as Clint spends two nights singing his greatest hits and new favorites. The show is sponsored by the T.L.L. Temple Foundation.
Ailey II (November 17, 2007) is part of the legacy of the legendary modern dancer/choreographer Alvin Ailey. Comprised of stunning talented dancers, this “younger” company captivates audiences nationwide by translating the strength, agility, and grace of body and soul into stirring, powerful performances. The Alvin Ailey spirit shines as the company performs an exhilarating and diverse repertoire for its spellbound audiences.
Nothing proclaims celebration and festivity like the sound of brass instruments, so what better time of year than the holidays to experience Canadian Brass (December 16, 2007)! This astounding quintet has been donning tuxedos and tennis shoes to entertain audiences around the world for nearly 38 years, with its signature blend of virtuosity, humor, showmanship, classics and jazz. Ignite your holiday spirit this December with Canadian Brass. This show is sponsored by Memorial Health System of East Texas.
The Piano Men (January 19, 2008) is a multi-media, musical celebration of the 1970s—year by year, hit by hit—from the songs of Billy Joel and Elton John. Performed by acclaimed recording artist Jim Witter and his band, the show whisks the audience into a musical time machine as it pays tribute to two of the century’s most popular and prolific songwriters. Come along for the ride! You don’t have to be a “Rocket Man”. You can come “Just the Way You Are”. This show is sponsored by Goodwin-Lasiter, Inc./Scott & Strong, Architects.
As soon as the show begins, you won’t have to wonder why Jigu! (March 19, 2008) is known as “Thunder Drums of China”. In a performance that is a banquet of delight for the senses, the 28 amazingly talented drummers, percussionists, and musicians from the Shanxi Province in China combine mesmerizing, high-tech lighting and special effects, hypnotic melodies, and majestic, rumbling percussion to deliver a stirring, primal experience for the audience. Colorful costumes, magnificent pageantry, and electrifying rhythms make this an event for the entire family which should not be missed! This show is sponsored by Brookshire Brothers Food and Pharmacy.
It’s the one, the only Chicago…The Musical (March 27, 2008). Winner of six Tony Awards and still going strong on Broadway, this razzle-dazzle story of sin and celebrity is set in the Chicago of the late 1920s. The musical follows the misadventures of Roxie Hart as she discovers that—with the right showman lawyer and public relations—you can not only get away with murder, but become the toast of the town! With a Grammy-winning score by Kander and Ebb, Chicago is considered to be “Broadway’s most popular musical”. A live orchestra will have the theater jumpin’ and jivin’. Come experience the songs, the dances, and “All That Jazz”. This show is sponsored by Angelina Radiation Oncology Associates and Lufkin Industries, Inc.
