Hazlewood Act Veterans, who at one time had entitlement to educational assistance under one or more of the Federal provisions, and whose entitlement has expired, may be admitted to the college without the payment of regular tuition and laboratory fees required of other students under the provisions of the Hazlewood Act (Article 2654-b-1, Chapter 9a, Title 49, Vernon's Texas Statues, 1936, as amended). These benefits are also available to the children of the Texas National Guard killed since January 1, 1946, while on active duty either in the service of Texas or the United States, and the children of Texas military personnel shown to be missing in action or prisoners of war. These benefits are administered solely by Registrars of the various State-supported colleges and universities, and application for free tuition and fees must be made directly to the Director of Financial Aid of the college or university. These benefits are provided under the authority contained in the Texas Education Code, Chapter 54, and is commonly referred to as the Hazlewood Act. Veterans or children of veterans may qualify:
