Angelina College provides Security Officer Level II, III and IV
initial and continuing education training courses.
Level II - Security Officer Course
8-hour course
This course will prepare individuals with little or no previous experience the basic principals of security work to work as an unarmed security officer in the State of Texas. On successful completion individuals will be able to obtain certification as a Level II Security Officer through the Texas Department of Public Safety Private Security Bureau.
Level III - Commissioned Security Officer Course
32-hour course
This course will prepare individuals who have completed the Level I and II training course to work as an armed security officer in the State of Texas. Level III training includes both classroom and firearms range qualification. Students must provide their own firearm of an approved caliber, ammunition and protective equipment. On successful completion individuals will be able to be commissioned as a Level III Security Officer through the Texas Department of Public Safety Private Security Bureau.
Level III - Commissioned Security Officer Requalification
7-hour course
This course will provide the continuing education training and firearms qualification that Level III Commissioned Security Officers are required to complete by the Texas Department of Public Safety’s Private Security Bureau every two (2) years to renew Level III Security Officer Licenses. The training includes both classroom and firearms range qualification. Students must provide their own firearm of an approved caliber, ammunition and protective equipment. Licensed Security Managers may take this course to fulfill six (6) hours of continuing education (CE) credits toward maintaining their Manager’s License.
