Strategic Plan

MISSION STATEMENT – The mission of Angelina College is to provide quality educational opportunities and services to aid students in reaching their full potential.

INSTITUTIONAL GOALS: Angelina College will engage in continuous improvement and move toward a culture of evidence to effectively measure efforts and increase positive outcomes by addressing the following seven institutional goals:

GOAL I - ACCESS

Angelina College will promote, deliver, and expand educational opportunities and services. The college will provide physical, economic and academic opportunities for post-secondary education and lifelong learning.  

         

  • OBJECTIVE 1.1 – Increase enrollment in each segment of society in the service area. 
  • OBJECTIVE 1.2Remove barriers to student’ access to higher education  through the provision of quality academic and student support services. 
  • OBJECTIVE 1.3 – Employ a variety of instructional systems to deliver quality instruction to a diverse group of students.

GOAL II - QUALITY INSTRUCTIONAL OUTCOMES

Angelina College will emphasize quality instruction, rate of students transferring to four-year institutions, degree and certificate completion, job placement and personal growth through value added to student lives.

  • OBJECTIVE 2.1 – Enable each student to meet their own unique variety of needs and goals for transfer, occupational needs, remediation, or socialization.
  • OBJECTIVE 2.2 – Employ teaching strategies that will
    enh
    ance critical thinking skills across the curricula.

GOAL III - PARTNERSHIPS, QUALITY OF LIFE

Angelina College will build community partnerships that improve economic development, promote educational opportunities through articulation with other educational institutions, and improve quality of life for East Texans.

  • OBJECTIVE 3.1 – Use partnerships and cooperative agreements to measurably enhance all other goals and to positively affect economic development.
  • OBJECTIVE 3.2 – Expand partnerships with business and industry to serve the future high demand job growth areas and the skills needed for those jobs and develop bridges with business, industry and educational partners to benefit existing and emerging workers.

GOAL IV - LEARNING ENVIRONMENT

Angelina College will maintain a learning environment designed to enhance intellectual, social and physical development.

  • OBJECTIVE 4.1 – Evaluate and maintain facilities and equipment that promote quality instruction, access, and a positive image for Angelina College.
  • OBJECTIVE 4.2 – Use technology effectively in the learning process.

GOAL V - RESOURCE MANAGEMENT

Resources and fiscal matters of Angelina College will be managed in a sound and prudent manner while enhancing educational offerings and the physical environment to meet student and community needs.

  • OBJECTIVE 5.1 – Produce more for less unit cost compared to statewide standards without compromising educational quality.
  • OBJECTIVE 5.2 – Expand and manage facilities and operations in an environmentally and fiscally responsible manner.
  • OBJECTIVE 5.3 – Add new sources of funding for educational opportunities each fiscal year.

GOAL VI - PERSONNEL LEADERSHIP

Angelina College will provide leadership for our service area through a diverse, competent, dedicated faculty and staff who reflect the educational expectations of our community.

  • OBJECTIVE 6.1Recruit faculty and staff that will reflect the diversity of our service area in ethnicity, age, and background of preparation that encourages cultural and geographic diversity.
  • OBJECTIVE 6.2 – Promote faculty and staff remaining professionally current and up-to-date, especially in teaching skills and methods. 
  • OBJECTIVE 6.3 – Maintain a salary structure and benefit package that will assist in the recruitment and retention of competent and dedicated faculty and staff.
  • OBJECTIVE 6.4 – Establish a culture that promotes excellence and enhances communication and collaboration to support student learning and success.
  • OBJECTIVE 6.5 - Establish a common understanding of the tools and concepts of the Paul/Elder model of critical thinking among college administration, faculty, and staff.

GOAL VII – IMAGE

Angelina College will project a positive image to its students and the community.

  • OBJECTIVE 7.1 – Receive positive indicators regarding image in the community and service area.
